Our strength comes from our membership as a whole and is expressed through active volunteers who are the leadership and future of the Association. Volunteer leaders fill an important role in the VBR and VMLS. They guide both the organization and set policy.

2020-2021 VBR DIRECTOR: Cara Connolly - Slifer, Smith & Frampton
Growing up in a family that owned several commercial properties in the south, Cara Connolly was exposed to real estate at a very young age. Buying, selling, and leasing with many hours of painting and sweeping large buildings, Cara learned at a very early age what hard work and creating genuine relationships will do for you in life.
Connolly attended the University of Arkansas and then moved to Austin, Texas to begin a career in financial sales. In 2003, Cara decided to trade in her suits and stilettos and headed west to Vail, Colorado on an invitation from a childhood friend.
"I love our Valley. This is my home and I chose to stay and raise my family here. Being able to share such an amazing place with others is a dream come true for me" says Cara Connolly.
Cara Connolly lives in Eagle, Colorado with her husband Patrick, daughter Ellie Fay and son Walker. You can usually find them at the hockey rink, climbing gym, skiing, biking on anything with wheels, camping off the grid, picking blackberries in Ireland with family, navigating museums in France, on the beach in Mexico and Spain, swimming in rivers, watching Texas and Arkansas football (hopefully not against each other), everywhere there is a soccer ball, behind the end of a fishing pole, hanging out with friends on hut trips and reflecting locally at the Vail church.
2020-2022 VBR DIRECTOR: Dawn Mullin - LIV Sotheby’s International
Six years ago, I applied for one of the Director positions for the Vail Board of Realtors. At the time, the VBR Foundation was at a place where it was seeking new direction. I was asked if I would consider being a Director for the Foundation instead because of my years of fundraising and volunteer work in our community. Like many, I didn’t know about the Foundation and was happy to redirect my energy and focus. I had never been on a Board before so there was a learning curve yet there was wonderful support and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity and experience.
The second year, I was asked to serve as the Chair. I was honored to be considered and gladly accepted. I became even more passionate about the Foundation, determined to elevate our presence, create fundraising opportunities and find better ways we could touch the lives of our members and the community. I was asked to continue serving as the Chair for two more years until we revised the By-Laws that restricted the length of time one could serve.
During my three-year term as Chair, our Board accomplished a tremendous amount: 1) We created a road map with structure, goals and focus for the future success of the VBR Foundation; 2) Diligent efforts have been made to get the name of the VBRF out into the public, letting members and our community know that we’re here to help them financially during catastrophic events; 3) We created an Amazon Smile relationship so when members and friends are shopping, the VBRF can benefit; 4) We submitted our application and were approved to be recipients in the Colorado Gives Day; 5) We added the Silent Auction to our Holiday Party as a fundraiser in anticipation of supporting of our upcoming Scholarship Program; 6) We finalized the design and implemented a Scholarship Program that rewards Eagle County students – to date, we have awarded 39 Scholarships to local students – donating $71,000 so far; 7) Our involvement in the Avon Playhouse Project generated a donation to the Foundation and, in turn, we took that money and donated it back to Habitat for Humanity whereby we purchased their Playhouse and donated it to the Better Ford Alpine Gardens as a permanent interactive structure for children. None of this could have been accomplished without the tremendous dedication and commitment of the VBR Directors.
When my ability to serve the VBR Foundation ended, I turned to the Vail Board of Realtors and was elected to join that Board. It’s been a tremendous experience to be a part of this Board and its Leadership. Times have been challenging with COVID for everyone and this Board and our staff in the office have been exceptionally diligent and focused on the wellness and opportunities for success of our membership. The dynamics of mutual respect, thinking outside of the expected paths, confidence to speak up when unpopular alternatives exist, all while knowing it’s for the betterment of the membership, this is what makes our Board so productive and effective. We have been the example for many other Boards in our state and are highly respected.
I was selected to join the CAR Leadership Academy for 2021 and am excited to expand my knowledge of ways I can contribute even more to our membership in the future. I am honored and proud to have been able to serve our Boards and, with your support, look forward to continuing my involvement and commitment to benefit all of our members.

Born and raised in Minturn, Co. Bobby Hermosillo came from very humble, and modest beginnings. The oldest of 3 boys growing up in a single mother home, his mother often worked 2 jobs to make ends meet. Bobby shares what drove him into Real Estate:

Julie is a Colorado native, and after graduating from college in Vermont she returned to her home state to start a family and career. Julie and her husband Glenn have built two homes and raised two children here in Eagle County. Her 28 years of work experience in the Vail area spans real estate sales, marketing, property management, and business coaching. With school teachers as parents, she was encouraged to be a life-long learner which she infuses into her role as Managing Broker at Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties where she aims to inspire positive growth in the team's lives and businesses.

The Vail Board of Realtors® and Vail Multi-list Service provides essential services to over 700 Realtor® Members throughout the Vail Valley. Our strength comes from our Membership as a whole and is expressed through active volunteers who are the leadership and future of the Association.
We look to Realtor® Members for new leadership to guide us into the future. We have openings on VBR & VMLS Boards of Directors, as well as on committees and task forces for those who are newer to volunteer leadership. Please, consider joining the Realtor® leadership ranks as either a committee member or Board of Director.
Board of Directors
What does a Board Member do?
Through Strategic Planning and meetings, Board Members act to guide, direct and monitor actions of committees and Board staff to create and maintain valuable services. Board Members assure the Board’s finances are sound via effective financial management in annual budgeting and monitored through monthly updates. Directors maintain awareness of all internal and external forces that may affect members, communicating and acting on those matters through the Board of Directors.
Listed below are the essential requirements for service as a VBR or VMLS Director:
• Commit to a two-year term of service on the Board of Directors and maintain Realtor® Membership
• Attend and participate in Board Strategic Planning and/or Leadership Training when scheduled
• Attend Monthly(bimonthly) Board meetings, General Membership meetings and other events of the Board, and sometimes address the membership in these venues as needed within your position’s duties
• Prepare for all Board meetings by familiarizing themselves with the information provided in the monthly agenda and attachments prior to the meeting date (provided exclusively via email);
• Should have experience serving on either a committee or the Board of Directors of a Realtor® Association or MLS Service within the past five years, but is not required;
• All Directors are encouraged to serve on at least one committee in conjunction with service as a Director.

Our committees are made up of members who graciously volunteer their time to help strengthen the association's events, services, member offerings, and strategic plan initiatives.
The Vail Board of Realtors® is always looking for new volunteers! Please take this opportunity to review where you might enjoy serving! Simply check off or prioritize the committees you might be interested in (e.g. 1-3, 1 being the most preferred committee) and return to the VBR offices via email, or drop it off in person.
In most cases, the respective Committee Chairs select the committee volunteers. On some committees, open seats are
limited, and can only be joined when the leadership year turns over (December 1st –November 31st). However, most committees can be joined at any point during the year!
The frequency of committee meetings ranges from 3 – 10 meetings per year, depending. Meetings can range from once meeting every other month (education, membership, etc), to a concentrated grouping of meetings leading up to a big
project/event (golf tournament). Call or email staff for details on any specific committee you might be interested in.
